"Nearly half a century old, this surprisingly youthful wine from a vintage plagued with drought and hydric stress is no less than a masterpiece. Extraordinarily enduring for a wine sourced from three-year-old vines, it's penetrating and pure still, redolent of dried blossoms, burnt caramel and graphite. Blackberry and black cherry flavours are delicate but sonorous, etched with liquorice and dried mint—a thrilling wine with languid wisps of tannins and holding power to spare."
